Kompany is giving little away when it comes to his plans, with no risks about to be taken on a player of Kane’s importance – with Bayern not due to be back in action again until January 11 after playing host to Leipzig.

Bayern’s head coach has told reporters when asked about a potential return for Kane: “I don't want to say now whether he will start or not. Today's training is important. If everything goes well then hopefully he'll play a role. It was good to have Harry and Phonzy [Alphonso Davies] back in training. Stani [Josip Stanisic] as well, even though he probably won't be there yet.
"We said previously that we couldn't replace Harry Kane like-for-like. Harry has this incredible sense of where he needs to be in the box. He's also helped us a lot in defence. He's one of the best in the world in the box – that's where he makes the difference. There aren't many players who can do that."
