Barcelona have identified Inter striker Marcus Thuram as a potential candidate to lead their line in the future, according to Mundo Deportivo, as the Catalan giants prepare for life after Robert Lewandowski. The Poland international has been in fabulous form this season, scoring 23 goals in as many games in all competitions for Barcelona.

As good as Lewandowski has been, he is not getting any younger, having turned 36 in August. The former Bayern Munich man had a somewhat underwhelming 2023-24 season by his standards, scoring just 26 goals in 49 games. A reunion with Hansi Flick, though, has resulted in Lewandowski getting back to his prolific best in front of goal. While there have been reports of activating the option for an extra year in Lewandowski's contract – which expires at the end of this season – the club is regularly linked with a host of attackers, including the likes of Erling Haaland and Viktor Gyokeres, and now Thuram, too.

Mundo Deportivo further mentioned that Barcelona are not the only team interested in Thuram's services. Liverpool, Real Madrid, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Paris Saint-Germain are all closely monitoring the player and consider him to be a valuable upgrade to their attacks.
