Everton had an eventful January transfer window, with five signings made over the month-long window, as well as a change in management that saw Rafa Benitez replaced with Frank Lampard on Deadline Day, and with the new manager only given a few hours to work on the transfer window, he is already being tipped to make up for it in the summer…
What’s the word?
Transfer insider, Dean Jones, has told GIVEMESPORT that Everton could potentially sign three players that are on Frank Lampard’s radar this summer.
Jones said:
“Frank Lampard will keep a close eye on Gilmour, Broja and Gallagher situations at Chelsea over the summer. I’ll be amazed if at least one of them doesn’t join Everton by next season.”
Everton need them
One of Lampard’s biggest assets to Everton will be his connections at Chelsea, due to his legendary playing career and close relationship with the owners of the club, and all three of these players offer something that Everton are in desperate need of going forward.
Both Gilmour and Gallagher are midfielders who are effective in both offensive and defensive play, with the latter in particular earning high praise for the impact he has made at Crystal Palace.
Gallagher has been hugely influential since joining Selhurst Park on a season-long loan last summer, with seven goals and five assists for the side from his midfield position across all competitions in 24 appearances, and is currently 9th in the Premier League for chances created, ahead of every player at his parent club, Chelsea, according to One Versus One.
Broja is having a similar influential impact at his loan club, Southampton, this season in his forward role, scoring eight goals and bagging one assist so far for Saints, with the 6 foot 4 striker offering a unique skill in dominating aerial challenges. As a result, he is in the top four players for aerial duels taken on in the Premier League this season according to One Versus One.
Gilmour is having a more difficult season with Norwich City, as they have been battling relegation all season, in a similar position to Everton in the sense of going on runs of poor performances, with the team only winning four of their 25 Premier League games so far this campaign.
Nevertheless, Gilmour has been an influential player in the team with a more defensive role having a dominant presence in the midfield with 68.7 touches, 2.0 tackles and 1.7 clearances on average per game, bagging an assist for one of the 15 Premier League goals scored by the team this season so far.
All of these players offer key attributes that could definitely benefit Everton ahead of the fresh start they will be given next season if they manage to stay up in the Premier League in the remaining few months of the season, and it will be surprising if Lampard isn’t given first refusal on these young players who may be further loaned or even sold by Chelsea in the summer.
