As reported by The Daily Record, Swansea City attacker Oli McBurnie is a deadline day target for Rangers.
What’s the story?
The Light Blues have already had a busy January transfer window but it seems they’re intent on delivering one last bit of good news for supporters just hours before it metaphorically slams shut.
The Daily Record report that Rangers are in talks with Swansea in an attempt to thrash out a loan deal until the end of the season, although they do face competition from English Championship side Sunderland.
The Scotland U21 international is a self-confessed Rangers fans and would be the latest attacking Scottish talent to sign for the club this month after the acquisitions of Jamie Murphy and Jason Cummings.
What can he offer?
The 21-year-old has limited senior experience so far in his career, having made just 18 appearances for Swansea City and few dozen more at various English clubs in the lower leagues.
However, he has made 11 Premier League appearances this season and is also in shockingly good form for Swansea’s U23 side, scoring 10 goals in seven reserve league appearances.
He has the power and skill to be an effective Scottish Premiership talent and with 10 Scotland U21 international caps to his name is a potential future international for his country too.
On loan this would be a relatively risk-free move and could prove to be the perfect end to January for Rangers supporters, giving their team serious depth in the final third.
