According to the Gunners are considering a move for Ajax's 17-year-old prodigy who is known to be a versatile defender as he can operate as a centre-back or left-back with ease. Hato is viewed by Arteta as a long-term acquisition who can provide stability to Arsenal's defence for over a decade.

Ajax are eager to secure Hato's services with a new long-term deal, despite having 18 months remaining on his current contract. Whereas, the Gunners, having previously engaged in a successful transfer business with Ajax by signing Jurrien Timber last summer, are expected to formalize their interest in Hato during the upcoming summer transfer window rather than in January.

Hato has been a standout performer and has already led the Dutch giants despite his tender age. He made his senior international debut in November against Gibraltar and has played every single minute in the Eredivisie for Ajax this season.

However, Hato's potential move to Arsenal raises questions about the future of Jakub Kiwior at the Emirates Stadium. The Polish footballer arrived at Arsenal for £17m ($21.52) in January last year but has failed to meet expectations and could reportedly be shipped out to Serie A. He has earlier plied his trade at Spezia where he made 43 appearances in two seasons.
