Brommapojkarna forward Jack Lahne has been the centre of attention for a range of clubs, according to reports in Expressen, but Middlesbrough must beat the rest of the pack to his signature.
What’s the word?
Lahne is 17 years old and currently holds a transfer value of just £68,000 according to TransferMarkt, yet has been a focus of scouting activity for Middlesbrough, Wolverhampton Wanderers, FC Copenhagen, Bursaspor, Cologne and Lille.
Expressen suggests that the club would be looking to make 15million Swedish Krona, or £1.28million, for the forward and would be willing to let the Sweden Under 17 winger leave in January.
The teenager has regularly featured and scored for the Bromma side since making his debut at the age of 15. So far this season, he has started in five of his 17 appearances, netting three goals, and was named the man of the match against Norrkoping after coming close to scoring.
It was at the Norrkoping match that Expressen claim scouts from across Europe were in attendance, and quote the team’s manager as doubting he will feature for the club next season.
Why Middlesbrough?
Clearly, Lahne is not a finished product and would be coming from one of Europe’s smaller footballing nations, but the Lusaka-born forward is performing well at what is one of the weaker sides in the Swedish league and his ability is attracting a range of clubs to his signature.
From the left wing, Lahne is giving IF Brommapojkarna a chance to stay up, having won just six of their 28 matches – leaving them in 15th out of the 16 sides that make up the Allsvenskan. The teenager also recently opened the scoring in a one-all draw with Kalmar FF.
Middlesbrough are certainly not flush with goal scorers right now, either, with Britt Assombalonga and Martin Braithwaite carrying the burden.
Under Tony Pulis, he would add a more rounded discipline to his game, but also give Boro a winger to utilise as the club continues to miss the presence of Spanish forward Adama Traore having sold the Barcelona product to Wolves in the summer.
