Chelsea are reportedly advancing in talks to sign Simons from Leipzig. This has prompted the Bundesliga side to scout the market for a worthy replacement for their midfield vacancy. According to , the German club have identified Leicester's El Khannous as a possible replacement for the Dutchman. El Khannous, 21, was signed by Leicester from Belgian side Genk for €24 million (£21m/$28m) last year. The Moroccan midfielder became a regular starter at the club and scored three goals and registered six assists in 37 games. With Eberechi Eze attracting interest from Arsenal and other Premier League clubs, Palace have also shortlisted the Belgian Pro League Young Player of the Year 2024 to replace the English midfielder.
