Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen has hinted in an interview with Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad that he will consider his future this summer, reports talkSPORT.
What’s the word?
The 22-year-old joined the North London outfit just 10 months ago, but he failed to make an impact.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino restricted Janssen to just 38 appearances in all competitions, and in that time he found the back of the net on six occasions.
His lack of game time has suggested that the Dutchman could be moving on again, with talkSPORT claiming that Galatasaray are monitoring the forward’s situation.
Janssen told Algemeen Dagblad:
“I want to focus on the Dutch team first. After that, we will see how all parties see the future. I’ve always said I will give it a go at Spurs for at least a year. I played less than expected, but now I am a better player from working every day at the top level in England.”
Should Spurs get rid?
This is a tricky situation given that Janssen has failed to hit the heights in North London, but the catch-22 is that he has not been handed the minutes to do so.
It seems as though he is liked by a large majority of Tottenham fans, so perhaps it would be a little hasty to offload him this summer.
Although, if Janssen is unhappy with a bit-part role then he cannot be blamed for considering his options.
This piece of transfer news is the latest in a string of stories linking Tottenham players away from the club.
The Mirror reports that Manchester United are favourites to sign Danny Rose, while Kyle Walker is wanted by Manchester City, according to The Independent.
One thing is for sure, though, Spurs cannot afford to let handfuls of first-team players leave if they want to maintain their rise.
