Liverpool fans would not have thought beyond their wildest dreams that the club would be crowned Champions League winners this season, but according to UEFA’s website, they have lifted the trophy three weeks before the final.
An eagle-eyed Liverpool supporter has spotted that the European governing body has described the Merseyside outfit as ‘winner’ of the tournament for the 2017-18 season.
The blunder was made on UEFA’s official website, which had the Reds named as champions in a banner above the list of matches throughout the competition.
Jurgen Klopp’s men have an opportunity to win a sixth European Cup for the club following their 7-6 aggregate victory over Roma.
The team were not at their scintillating best, and even 43-goal machine Mohamed Salah failed to perform at his high level.
Madrid are looking for their third consecutive European crown, but they too have had some hairy moments during the campaign.
It is building up to a thrilling final, but UEFA’s media team seem to think that the Reds have already secured the trophy.
Unsurprisingly, Liverpool fans posted some amusing reactions to the mistake.
